For your consideration… may we offer the fabulous pre-festival evening of musical excellence- a two hour extravaganza honoring five of the honorees in the Sweet and Hot Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame is located in the beautiful pool area in the LAX Marriott atrium and contains over 60 brass plaques honoring the great artists of the Golden Years of Popular music. Each year five honorees are chosen to be represented in an evening of music celebrating their contributions.
This year they are:

Big Band-Harry James Orchestra What’s your favorite- Ciribiribin, My Buddy, One o’Clock Jump, That old Feeling?

Horn- Bobby Hackett maybe you remember his golden horn Struttin’ with Some Barbeque, Muskrat Ramble or Bugle Call Rag

Rhythm- Teddy Wilson Teddy swings with I can’t get Started, Mean to Me, More Than You Know or Gershwin sentiment- Nice Work if You Can Get it.

Vocal- Bing Crosby Bing invented “American Singing” with tunes like It happened in Monterey, Temptation, Beautiful Girl and Learn to Croon- not to mention Mr Berlin’s White Christmas

Composer- Irving Berlin How can you choose form 1250 plus songs- maybe Always, Blue Skies, I love a Piano, Let Yourself Go, Puttin’ on the Ritz or Doin’ what comes Natur’lly.

Festival musicians will present music that pays tribute to the contributions made by these icons. You may hear these tunes and/or anecdotes from people who knew them. You are certain to hear outstanding performances from the hearts of those presenting honors to the recipients. Polish up your memories as you listen to these awesome artists paying homage to musical heroes – maybe your favorite songs will be played. There may be some extras tossed in, it’s an evening of incredible artistry.

The Sweet and Hot Celebration and Awards Show begins at 8:00 pm, in the Cabaret room of Los Angeles Airport Marriott- Thursday, September 1, 2011. Tickets are $25.00 per person.-Available at the event.
